Azimuth Management Consulting placed an Interim CIO reporting to the CEO for a period of 14 months during which time AMC completed the restructuring the IT organization, set out the IT strategy, end state architecture and roadmap, set up a program to replace the legacy core platforms and hired a new permanent CIO.
CASE STUDY – ANZ Bank
ANZ operates in 33 markets globally with representation in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Pacific, Europe, America and the Middle East ANZ is among the top 4 banks in Australia, the largest banking group in New Zealand and Pacific, and among the top 50 banks in the world. ANZ world headquarters is located in Melbourne. Azimuth Management Consulting (AMC) were engaged by ANZ Bank at their headquarters in Melbourne Australia, early in 2010. AMC were tasked with reviewing the overall Information Technology operating model. ANZ had almost 7,000 resources working in IT at any one time across its global organisation. Over a three month period, the AMC team, supported by ANZ senior management reviewed the business and IT strategy, the IT architecture, the current portfolio of projects, the delivery lifecycle and capabilities, the sourcing models along with the distribution and skill-set of the workforce. Once the Analysis activity was completed, AMC worked alongside the CIO and Senior management team to implement a transformation programme that delivered :
- Greater visibility and control over costs and expenditure.
- An overall IT architecture roadmap and strategy (and portfolio alignment tools).
- A workforce plan, including professional capability model.
- A service model.
- KPIs and Service metrics (based on COBIT and ITIL) aligned to strategy and fully integrated with the executive performance plans.
- A Strategic Vendor and Partner strategy.
- A right-shoring strategy and plan.
AMC worked with the CIO to assess senior management capability, and to build up an executive panel capable of delivering upon the overall IT strategy and roadmap. During the transition from the old to the new operating model AMC filled a number of roles (as interim Executive) including, Head of Delivery Services (c.2,500 IT personnel including the ANZ India offshore operation), Head of Strategy and Architecture and Head of Transformation
Azimuth Management Consulting placed an IT Executive with Bank of Ireland. This position reported directly to the CIO Azimuth Management Consulting (AMC) completed an Executive placement with Bank of Ireland Group, filling the position of IT Delivery and Support Executive. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role involved building relationships with the business Executive community, managing c.350 delivery and support IT professionals, and driving an number of cost saving and process improvement programmes.
